How to Use the Learn to Read Workbooks
The Learn to Read books are designed to give children early reading success. To achieve this, children learn the words for each story before reading the book.
Start with Workbook 1
Workbook 1 teaches the first 20 words used in Book 1 - The Landing, along with three instruction words: Write, Draw, Colour.
Children learn these words through:
Picture cues that help them remember each word
Writing practice to build confidence and accuracy
Simple comprehension activities that use the words in meaningful ways
Once your child has mastered all 20 words, they are ready to read The Landing with success and enjoyment.
The Sequence Continues
Each workbook prepares children for the next story:
Books 2–5 follow the same pattern
By the end of Book 5, children will have learned 100 words
They will be able to read with accuracy, confidence, and enjoyment
